IBM Announces Lotus Sametime for Linux

August 14, 2006

IBM is to announce its IBM Lotus Sametime enterprise instant messaging platform will have server and desktop support for Linux.

A Linux desktop client for Sametime will be available later this summer in Lotus Sametime 7.5, while a server product is slated for early 2007, IBM said.

“Today’s announcement is a natural step forward in IBM’s support for Linux in the enterprise,” said Ken Bisconti vice president, Lotus software products, IBM. “With Lotus Notes for Linux and now, Lotus Sametime support for Linux, all of an organization’s key collaborative business applications can run in a 100% Linux environment.”
