Bivio Launches Government Market Initiative; Acenes Technology Solutions and Federal Technology Solutions, Inc. To Deliver Government Network Infrastructure Solutions on Bivio's Network Appliance Platforms

Posted on: Tuesday, 15 August 2006, 12:00 CDT

Bivio Networks, the leader in high-speed network appliance platforms for delivery of deep-packet-processing applications, today launched its federal government market initiative, announcing the signing of two government systems integrator partners. Acenes Technology Solutions, Inc., and Federal Technology Solutions, Inc. (FTSI) will market and sell networking solutions developed and integrated on Bivio's high- performance, programmable network appliance platforms. In addition, Acenes and FTSI will provide related network consulting, systems integration, procurement, and fulfillment services for government agencies. Acenes aggregates, integrates, and supports networking applications from multiple vendors to provide comprehensive solutions for high-speed networks and information assurance (IA) security services. FTSI provides state-of-the-art, customized information technology solutions and support to federal, state, and local governments as well as to the private sector.

"With the implementation of the Government Information Grid (GIG), government agencies are transitioning from independent networks to an interconnected infrastructure requiring high-speed, highly secure communications across multiple organizations and agencies," said Jim Brear, vice president of worldwide sales and support for Bivio. "Bivio's network appliance platforms let government agencies and our partners Acenes and FTSI integrate commercial and government-developed applications, enabling the deployment of high-performance, scalable, common operational applications for network security, traffic management, and other information assurance solutions."

Bivio Platform Ideally Suited For Government's Needs

Bivio enables government agencies and systems integrators to rapidly develop and deploy mission-critical application software and solutions on the industry's best-in-class network appliance platforms.

-- COTS and GOTS Application Integration -- Bivio's network appliance platforms are high-performance, programmable network devices that combines groundbreaking scalable hardware architecture with a software platform that includes a standard Linux-based execution environment and a comprehensive set of networking features. Agencies and systems integrators can rapidly develop and deploy commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) and government off-the-shelf (GOTS) applications on Bivio's platforms, achieving dramatic increases in performance while significantly reducing development costs and time to deployment.

-- Platform Performance and Scalability -- Bivio's network appliance platforms feature deep packet processing at multi-gigabit performance for any network service and for any packet size. Government agencies can take full advantage of Bivio's innovative scaling and clustering technology, delivering multi-dimensional scaling of networking, computational, and application resources.

-- Common Data Stream -- Bivio's novel platform architecture and comprehensive software suite make it possible to securely share and distribute a common data stream across multiple applications or to multiple agencies working off a common platform.

-- Space and Power -- Bivio's compact, energy-efficient, multi-CPU network appliance form-factor allows the deployment of multiple network services on a single device within a constrained physical space, providing the government significant capital equipment and operational utility savings.

Bivio Offers Best Cost, Functionality, and Efficiency

"In terms of functionality, performance, efficiency, and cost, Bivio is the clear industry leader in delivering best-in-class network appliance platforms to meet the government's stringent network requirements," said Robert Cabanya, managing director of Acenes Technology Solutions. "Bivio's network appliance platforms significantly enhance Acenes' systems integration value to our customers. With Bivio as our platform of choice, we can rapidly deliver industry leading networking solutions, meeting our customers' network infrastructure requirements as well as their time-sensitive deployment schedules. Acenes has done several joint briefings with Bivio, and we fully expect to see significant deployments of Bivio's network appliance platform by several federal agencies."

The Department of Defense (DoD) and the entire defense infrastructure are expounding the idea of network-centric warfare and network-centric operations, which Acenes sees as an area of tremendous growth. Network-centricity requires the ability to securely move extremely large amounts of data at wire speed. Bivio's network appliance platforms, combined with Acenes' application set, enable the company to leverage its position in the defense market.

Bivio's deep-packet-processing capability is critically important to Acenes' user community, which requires high-speed solutions for code identification, lawful intercept, and other IA applications. In addition, Acenes can use the highly scalable Bivio platforms to address the bandwidth-expansion requirements of the DoD's global information grid, delivering unprecedented multi-gigabit performance.

Wire-Speed Execution Critical to DoD

"From a security perspective, Bivio's hardware and software promises to be a critical piece of the emerging network infrastructure for the DoD's combat arms," said Jack Manciet, president of FTSI. "The Bivio solution provides the wire-speed execution that is critical in government infrastructures. This speed, combined with deep packet processing and platform scalability, enables Bivio to outperform any device on the market."

FTSI also noted that the Navy liked Bivio's small form factor, since rack space is at a premium on boats and submarines. Because the multi-CPU platform includes a Linux-based execution environment, it can run multiple COTS and proprietary GOTS applications simultaneously.
