American Arium Announces Feature-Rich Debug Solutions for Latest Intel Mobile Processors

TUSTIN, Calif., June 4 /PRNewswire/ -- American Arium, an industry leader in software debug and integration tool development, today announced support for the latest Intel(R) Pentium(R) M processors, part of Intel's Centrino(TM) mobile technology. Arium offers two debug solutions: the ECM-50 emulator with SourcePoint(TM) 7.0 or ECM-20 with SourcePoint 5.3.

"The Intel processors are the first built on Intel's 90nm manufacturing technology, resulting in chips with faster clock speeds and more on-die cache memory," said Todd Selbo, product manager, Arium Sales & Marketing. "Arium was first to support the Intel Pentium M processor built on its 130nm manufacturing technology so we are intimately familiar with the newer version. The new, high-volume 90nm manufacturing process produces smaller and faster transistors and uses strained silicon technology to give the processors a speed boost, resulting in higher performance headroom."

American Arium's latest debug solutions incorporate best-of-breed functionality and a feature-rich set of run-control and execution functions for excellent manipulation of code. Arium's emulators work in real time with all processor frequencies, provide accurate breakpoint functionality, and work with today's most popular compilers. SourcePoint(TM), Arium's companion software, offers exceptional visibility to the code via a series of intuitive screens and dialog boxes with numerous viewing options. New features in SourcePoint 7.0 include hot plugging, code profiling, support for the Intel EFI Framework, and through SourcePoint(TM) IDE, a fully integrated development environment. In addition, Arium's solutions provides access to unique on-die triggering functionality that was once only available through the use of expensive logic analyzers.

The Intel Pentium M 735, 745, and 755 are 1.7GHz, 1.8GHz, and 2 GHz processors, respectively, and all come with 2Mb of Level 2 cache. The chips are manufactured on 300mm wafers, which provide more than twice the capacity of the earlier 200mm wafers. According to Intel, the new chips boost performance by up to 17 percent over the previous generation. The new processors are being marketed under Intel's Centrino brand, which also includes associated chipsets and wireless communications technology.
