Digital Lightwave Announces OWM Plus As an Addition to the OWM Product Line
Posted on: Monday, 7 June 2004, 06:00 CDT
Digital Lightwave(R), Inc. (Nasdaq:DIGL), a leading provider of optical networking technology and test instruments, today announced the OWM Plus as an addition to the OWM product line. The OWM Plus offers an Optical Multi-Rate (OMR) board adapted from the popular NIC(R) product and a tunable optical filter. These features enable customers to monitor multiple channels on a DWDM network and offer the ability to drill down to a single optical channel.
"The OWM Plus is a natural progression in feature and functionality," said Doug Gardner, CTO of Digital Lightwave. "The OWM is a leader in physical layer monitoring of DWDM networks. With our OWM Plus, customers may take advantage of the advanced physical layer functionality in the same unit that analyzes SONET, SDH and OTN protocols, helping in the troubleshooting of installation, monitoring and maintenance."
The OWM Plus is designed for long-term monitoring, remote troubleshooting, and remote testing applications of DWDM systems. Operation is via standard Graphical User Interface (GUI) making for a seamless addition of the OWM Plus into existing customer networks. The instrument may also be controlled by a Command Line Interface (CLI). The OWM Plus is a rack-mounted instrument, DC or AC powered, which can also be ordered in a soft carrying case suited for portable use.
Deployed at key points in a DWDM network, the OWM Plus uses spectrograph technology to monitor power level, wavelength and noise level on all channels simultaneously, with measurements taken at an industry-leading 10ms rate. Simultaneously, the tunable filter can single out one channel for further analysis of the SONET, SDH or OTN signal. The OMR board can perform full testing and analysis from 51Mbps to 10.7Gbps.
Digital Lightwave will be showing the OWM Plus at their booth, Booth #22616 - South Hall, at Supercomm 2004, June 22-24, in Chicago.
About OWM Products
Digital Lightwave's OWM is a highly sophisticated DWDM analysis system that provides more functionality and reliability than traditional optical spectrum analyzers at a significantly lower cost. The OWM is available in a compact rack-mountable or portable version -- each providing remote analysis and management via a Graphical User Interface (GUI). The OWM remotely monitors up to eight optical fibers and provides fast and highly accurate analysis of optical wavelengths.
