Hachette Book Group USA Selects NaviSite for Managed Messaging Services
Posted on: Monday, 21 August 2006, 09:00 CDT
NaviSite, Inc. (NASDAQ: NAVI), a leading provider of IT hosting, outsourcing and professional services for mid- to large-sized organizations, today announced that Hachette Book Group USA (HBG) has selected NaviSite to provide Managed Microsoft Exchange Services. NaviSite is delivering a dedicated Exchange messaging solution that offers a high-degree of flexibility and customization for HBG.
Hachette Book Group USA publishes the well-respected imprints Warner Books; Little, Brown & Company; Little, Brown Books for Young Readers; Faithwords; Center Street; Bulfinch; Springboard Press and Hachette Audio. The company, formerly Time Warner Book Group, a division of Time Inc. and Time Warner, was recently acquired by Hachette Livre, a French publisher, forming what is arguably the 3rd largest book publisher worldwide. As part of this transition, HBG needed to migrate from Time Warner's infrastructure and expand its own IT capabilities, including building or acquiring a complete and comprehensive messaging solution. HBG sought a service provider that could support this requirement, and the highly collaborative nature of its business, with a reliable and adaptable managed messaging solution.
"We have a very aggressive timetable in which we needed to complete this project," said Larry Feldman, VP of IT, Hachette Book Group USA. "All of my professional contacts suggested that it was difficult to build and maintain the in-house expertise and infrastructure needed to support a highly available and customizable messaging solution. We decided to engage a service provider instead, developing our list of candidates from Microsoft Gold Certified partners -- which was a much smaller list than we anticipated. After talking with several organizations, we ultimately selected NaviSite. Their solution offered much more flexibility, redundancy, and capability versus the competitors' services. We were also extremely impressed by NaviSite's Andover data center and the expertise and experience of the company's personnel."
"With six divisions, multiple office locations, and authors, distributors, and customers around the world, effective communication is an integral component to HBG's publishing business," said Mark Clayman, Senior Vice President of Hosting Services, NaviSite. "We understand the critical nature of messaging solutions today, and NaviSite delivers a variety of secure and reliable services to support customers with a broad spectrum of scalability and technology requirements."
NaviSite offers Managed Messaging services for the Microsoft Exchange and Lotus Domino platforms, including premium anti-spam and anti-virus protection, mobile messaging, message archiving and retrieval, instant messaging, and disaster recovery for messaging solutions.
