Video Guidance Provides Technology and Services for Virtual Summer School Field Trips
Posted on: Wednesday, 23 August 2006, 09:00 CDT
Video Guidance, the leading video, voice, streaming, and web conferencing services company provided videoconferencing equipment and technological services for Virtual Field Trips for the Independent School District #197 School Age Care Program.
The 'Trips' were launched from the Heritage Middle School in West St. Paul, MN. One of the 'Trips' connected the students with The International Wolf Center in Ely, MN (Video Guidance also sold and facilitated the installation of the equipment at the Center), and one connected the children with NASA in the State of Alabama. The Wolf 'Trip' enabled the kids to view live wolves in their natural habitat, to hear them howl, to learn the importance of wolf packs, and provided them with the opportunity to interact with a wolf educator. The NASA 'Trip' afforded them the chance to learn about toys in space, see and understand the effects of gravity, and communicate with an Educator from NASA.
"The opportunity to learn and see directly through the use of videoconferencing was not only a groundbreaking experience, but allowed us to visit places that would normally be out of the question. Virtual Fieldtrips has opened a wide variety of opportunities for our students to explore. It was a wonderful experience!" stated Sherry Green, School Age Care Coordinator of District #197.
