NEC-Mitsubishi Electronics Display Introduces New 40-Inch LCD Display

Posted on: Wednesday, 9 June 2004, 06:00 CDT

ATLANTA, June 9 /PRNewswire/ -- NEC-Mitsubishi Electronics Display of America Inc., the number one stand-alone vendor of flat panel desktop displays, today announced that it has introduced a new 40-inch (39.6-inches viewable image size) LCD display with attractive silver bezel and advanced capabilities to deliver large, impressive images for AV applications. The new LCD4000e was designed to extend the selection of large LCD displays for theatres, bars, sports venues, and health clubs, among other leisure and entertainment environments. The new model complements the current LCD4000 model, which was introduced in February 2003 for public display applications such as conference presentations, information kiosks, financial exchanges, as well as retail and airport signage.

"The potential of digital signage as a powerful medium for information, advertising and entertainment will cause the large LCD monitor market revenue to increase from $186 million in 2004 to $2.3 billion in 2009," said Rhoda Alexander, director of monitor research at iSuppli/Stanford Resources. "Large LCD monitors bring high resolution, sharp color contrast, light weight and low power consumption to the digital signage market."

The NEC LCD4000e features brilliant images and color control delivered with a sharp 0.67 mm pixel pitch, 1280 x 768 (WXGA) resolution, 15:9 aspect ratio and 450 cd/m(2) luminance (typical). The rapid response time of 22 ms (typical) full cycle allows the monitor to deliver virtually uninterrupted, undistorted viewing of lighting-fast action. The monitor also features ultra wide 170-degree horizontal and vertical viewing angles with NEC XtraView(R) technology for an enhanced viewing experience.

"With the development of innovative products such as the NEC LCD4000e, featuring a new level of streamlined design and sophisticated capabilities, NEC-Mitsubishi continues to build on its position as a leader in the LCD information display market," said Todd Fender, senior product manager, for NEC-Mitsubishi Electronics Display. "We are pushing further into this market in order to offer leisure and entertainment businesses the medium they need to effectively reach their patrons through superior visual display solutions."

For maximum compatibility in diverse information display environments the NEC LCD4000e is outfitted with a DVI-D connector for digital video signal adapters and a traditional 15-pin mini D-sub connector that is configured for VGA-compatible adapters, as well as BNC, composite video, component video, S-Video. Advanced monitor intelligence allows control commands to be sent directly to the monitor through a standard PC system or remotely over an existing network (LAN) through use of the Display Data Channel/Command Interface (DDC/CI) by utilizing an RS-232 connector. CableComp(TM) technology enables IT administrators to utilize long cables of up to 326 feet/100 meters to service, upgrade and repair the unit from a central control room. The NEC LCD4000e was engineered with a uniformly thin frame and lightweight module of only 61.7 lbs (28 kg) to ensure ease of installation and mounting.

Price, Shipping and Availability

The LCD4000e will be available in August 2004 through authorized NEC-Mitsubishi Electronics Display resellers and backed by a one-year limited warranty including backlight.
