Kailight Photonics Advances All-Optical Signal Regeneration State of the Art for NRZ Applications

Kailight Successfully Cascades 50 Optical Signal Regenerators in a Network Loop Test
Kailight Photonics, developers of advanced optical modules, today announced that it set an industry record for NRZ (none-return to zero) all-optical signal regeneration. In a test to prove the performance of its latest technology, Kailight cascaded fifty of its Tunable All-optical Signal Regenerators (TASR-1040) in a 10Gb/s network loop test.
The TASR-1040 is part of Kailight's Tunable All-optical Signal Regenerator product line of modules. This product is being jointly developed with Sanmina-SCI, with financial support from the Israel-U.S. Binational Industrial Research and Development (BIRD) Foundation. The TASR-1040 provides all-optical regeneration and/or wavelength conversion for bit-rates ranging from 1Gb/s to 42.5Gb/s. The TASR-1040 also delivers bit-rate, protocol and modulation scheme transparency while dramatically reducing network transmissions costs.
"This test was designed to show that Kailight's all-optical technology can be used in large multi-node networks," said Sagie Tsadka, CEO of Kailight. "While we have passed similar tests for RZ (return to zero) signals, all-optical regeneration is more difficult for NRZ modulation schemes. This is the first time a company has shown that this technology can meet the stringent performance criteria required by real-world NRZ applications."
