Irving, Grapevine, Lewisville and Coppell Comcast Customers to Receive New Channel Line-Up

Posted on: Friday, 11 June 2004, 06:00 CDT

IRVING, Texas, June 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Beginning June 19th, Comcast customers in Irving, Grapevine, Lewisville and Coppell will receive a new and improved channel line-up. The new line-up makes room for the next generation of video entertainment, including video-on-demand, and allows for simpler broadcast and cable network listings.

Comcast is creating a line-up that groups channels by sports, news, children's programming, education, movies, music, Spanish language and more to make it easier for the customer to find the programs they want to view. Additionally, the new line-up makes room for future services to be added later this year such as Comcast On Demand. With Comcast On Demand, digital subscribers can watch first-run movies, news and selected television programming at the time they choose. Comcast's On Demand service, along with great first-run movies, will include more than 1,000 hours of free programming each month.

Along with the realignment, Comcast is providing customers new channels on the expanded basic tier. Some of these channels in Irving, Lewisville, Coppell and Grapevine are Turner Classic Movies and Sci Fi Channel that were previously only available on the Digital Classic tier. In addition, TV One, the exciting new network for African American adults, will be added to the expanded basic lineup. Bravo and Mun2 now will be available on digital channels. Univision will now be seen on Channel 23, Telefutura will move to Channel 20, Telemundo will be on Channel 10 and Galavision has moved to Channel 31.

The realignment of channels will appear on your Comcast converter automatically. Customers that simply rely on cable ready television sets may need to re-set any pre-programmed channel favorites they have established in their own television sets. Additionally, new Comcast channel line-ups will be mailed to all customers and will be printed in local newspapers.

"Comcast is making this change to make television channels easier to find and these changes pave the way for exciting new services that only cable can provide," said Mike Cleland, Comcast's Area Vice President of the Dallas Market.

I received the insert with my bill. Why didn't you put the regular channels in brackets to compare to the new locations? The insrt is very confusing. I have a convrter box on one TV but mainly watch TV on another TV. being a subscriber, I should be able to watch my programs on my regular TV, without a box. Please send the new lineup with a channel comparision. Thank you, J. Nardone
