Companies to Deliver Pre-Configured and Certified Solutions to HPC and Database Clustering Markets
InfiniCon Systems, the premier provider of clustering and I/O virtualization solutions for next-generation server networks, announced today it has been selected as one of the five initial companies to participate in Intel(R)'s Enterprise Server Acceleration Alliance (ESAA). InfiniCon will work with Intel to provide pre-certified InfiniBand solutions to select members of Intel's server channel network.
Intel's ESAA program focuses on removing the certification barriers to enterprise server adoption and enabling quick deployment of Intel-based enterprise servers and "solution building blocks" such as networking components, storage, and software into real world applications. Intel and InfiniCon - which develops InfiniBand-based switching systems and management software that enable fabric and grid models of computing - will cooperate to certify pre-configured Intel-based enterprise server platforms that will initially target both high performance computing (HPC) and database clustering environments.
The first cooperative ESAA "recipe" offering from Intel and InfiniCon, slated for June 2004 availability, will address the burgeoning HPC market opportunity that has emerged for standard, high-volume Intel-based servers and the high-bandwidth, low-latency InfiniBand architecture. Intel plans to immediately launch ESAA-approved configurations via the ESAA program, which consists of a select group of worldwide strategic channel customers and independent software and hardware vendors.
InfiniCon has already achieved notable market success in delivering InfiniBand-based HPC clusters into production environments consisting of both Xeon(TM) and Itanium(TM) processor technology to leading universities and government/research organizations.
"Through the Intel(R) Enterprise Server Acceleration Alliance and collaboration with InfiniCon and other leading independent vendors, customers will be able to confidently implement pre-certified server stacks and proven InfiniBand-based solution stacks into the enterprise at a lower total cost of ownership and deploy fewer resources to do so," stated Jeff Richardson, general manager of Intel's Enterprise Products Services Division. "By optimizing Intel's leading server platforms with InfiniBand as the interconnect, we will provide users with more power and more value for their IT investments, at a price-to-performance ratio that gets better with each new processor and server generation."
