New Gateways Deliver Cost-Effective Voice/Video/Data Services to Residential and Business Customers Through Unique Multi-Network, Multi-Service Architecture
Nayna Networks, Inc., a leading provider of next generation EFM broadband access solutions, today unveiled new customer premise equipment for its flagship ExpressSTREAM series, a breakthrough platform for voice/video/data (triple play) service delivery over a converged Gigabit Ethernet access network. The new intelligent XG gateway solutions enable providers to cost-effectively offer next generation IP-based services, satellite video and legacy (POTS, CATV Video, TDM traffic) support over copper or fiber connections using either point-to-point or Ethernet Passive Optical Networks (EPON). This unprecedented flexibility allows carriers to mix and match connections, topologies and services -- and intelligently control billing -- for the rapid deployment of affordable broadband Ethernet in the First Mile (EFM) access. Ideal deployments include cyber apartments/homes and small/medium business applications.
"We've had a very enthusiastic customer response to Nayna Networks' ExpressSTREAM solutions," noted Wendell Balc, president and CEO of Katalyst Technology, a broadband systems integrator headquartered in Bulgaria serving Eastern Europe. "Our customers in Bulgaria find ExpressSTREAM XG gateways very attractive due to their unique combination of high Quality of Service (QoS), high performance and affordability. Deployments to various vertical markets are proceeding ahead of schedule."
According to Teresa Mastrangelo, program director for industry analyst firm RHK's Broadband Access Networks program, "Cost effectiveness, network flexibility and tight service and billing control will be critical to the successful deployment of Ethernet in metro applications. As the market evolves, service providers are going to gravitate toward platforms that give them the ability to adapt to changing network and application requirements, putting solutions such as Nayna's ExpressSTREAM in a strong position for growth."
The new Nayna XG gateway products are the first EFM Customer Premise Equipment (CPE) to support IEEE802.3ah compliant point-to-point and point-to-multipoint EPON topologies, enabling service providers to select the network design best suited to a particular application, and even mix and match as needs change. XG gateways extend this flexibility with copper and fiber interfaces, ensuring cost-effective integration into existing networks -- plus the cost saving ability to share a single fiber in EPON applications.
Multi-Service, Total Control
ExpressSTREAM allows carriers to deliver the broadest possible range of services, including next generation VoIP, IP video on demand, high speed access and legacy TDM/POTS/RF QAM Video traffic. The platform even takes video to the next level, with the unique ability to handle digital CATV and satellite video transmissions up to 2.1 GHz (1.2 GHz more than classic CATV-only systems).
"The high-bandwidth requirements of video and the low delay requirements of Voice over IP (VoIP) are the key drivers for FTTP deployment," noted Naveen Bisht, president, CEO, and founder of Nayna Networks. "Current market dynamics mean that service providers need the ability to deliver a broad range of video -- from standard RF CATV signals to satellite channels and high-definition TV (HDTV) -- while managing that traffic so it doesn't impact Quality of Service. ExpressSTREAM is the only EFM solution that covers the whole service and management spectrum."
ExpressSTREAM ensures that carriers can tightly manage service delivery with bandwidth allocation, port assignments and Quality of Service (QoS) monitoring and control. Additional carrier-class features include multicast, VLAN and priority queuing, enabling the separation of services by port and/or priority requirements.
