KNOXVILLE, Tenn., Sept. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- XxPansion Networks, Inc. today announced that it has officially launched its new wireless high-speed Internet service in metro Knoxville, Tenn.
The wireless system has been running since mid-May of this year, and XxPansion Networks has spent the past few months fine-tuning the system. The commercial system is capable of handling 54 Mbps full duplex (upload and download speeds). The network is currently being used by clients located in two buildings in downtown Knoxville, including one of the tallest buildings in town.
XxPansion works to bring high-speed Internet access to all communities -- whether urban, suburban or rural. The company also offers state-of-the-art Web-design services.
"We want to provide service not only to large urban centers, but also to rural and remote areas," said David Hilliard, president of XxPansion Networks. "The Internet has become a key part of our culture, and, really, everyone -- particularly businesses and government agencies -- should have fast and reliable Internet service. But the fact is that many rural areas just don't have high-speed Internet access."
XxPansion is now working on the next phase of its high-speed system in Tennessee. The new system will be located in Tellico Plains, Tenn., in Monroe County. XxPansion plans to have a system up and running in four more areas around Knoxville by the end of the year. Once the Monroe County area is online, XxPansion will begin to focus on other areas such as Loudon County, Sevier County and Anderson County. Hilliard added that the company plans to ultimately set up wireless networks in seven or more counties.
XxPansion Networks offers various services such as data storage, Web design, and Internet training. Web-design packages start at $599, and Web- hosting packages range from $14.95 to $99.95 a month. Most hosting packages come with free setup. XxPansion also provides several customizable e-commerce options, including e-catalogs, inventory management, vendor management, online payment gateways, and shopping utilities.
