PHILADELPHIA, Sept. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Building on a more than 46-year career that has spanned virtually every area of broadcast journalism, Larry Kane announced the launch of "The Larry Kane Report," an innovative new Web site at http://www.larrykane.com/ devoted to news, commentary and analysis of important social issues and current events.
The site, which has drawn over 80,000 visitors and several thousand unique readers in a three-week demo run, will feature two days of analysis, beginning September 6, on the Katie Couric debut at CBS. "This could be a seminal moment in broadcast news history," Kane said. "I'm looking forward to evaluating the new network anchor landscape."
Geared to audiences in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware, but national in scope, the site features a fast and convenient gateway to some of the top Web sites in the region, nation and world. Kane personally selected the online news sites that are featured in "The Larry Kane Report," based on his assessment of which outlets provide the best overall news coverage. The site is designed to be fully archived, offering an easy navigation style for reader input and quick search of threads of current debate. "The Larry Kane Report" will also include guest contributors from all fields, ranging from politics, to science and sports.
"This project fills a void in one of our largest media markets in the country," said Kane. "Until now, there was no full-time commentary or analysis site produced by a broadcasting professional where consumers could learn about the hot issues of the day and how those issues would impact their daily lives." Known as the dean of Philadelphia television news anchors, Kane currently serves as host of the acclaimed "Larry Kane: Voice of Reason," airing Sunday nights at 9:30 p.m. on CN8, The Comcast Network, which reaches 10 million cable subscriber homes. As a special contributor to KYW Newsradio 1060 in Philadelphia, Kane provides news analysis and commentary and is host of the "Wednesday's Child" adoption feature.
"My goal is to use my expertise to provide perspective to help people better understand the real essence of news stories," added Kane. "The site is intended as a complement to traditional daily newscasts, providing a chance to go beyond the routine and into the nerve center of the news. This is not a blog - it is a site devoted to what's happening, what's next and why these events matter in our lives."
"The Larry Kane Report" Web site features links to KYW TV, CN8, The Comcast Network and various other news organizations, as well as a reciprocal link with the "News" homepage of Philly.com (http://www.philly.com/), the online home of the Philadelphia Inquirer and Daily News.
