Altiris Adds Security, Intel vPro Technology Support to Co-Developed HP Client Management Solutions

Altiris Inc. (Nasdaq: ATRS), a pioneer of service-oriented management solutions, today announced two new updates to the co-developed HP and Altiris client management offerings to help business customers provide more secure and stable computing systems.

Altiris also announced support of the soon-to-be-available Intel vPro(a) technology(1), an available option on the new HP Compaq dc7700 Desktop PC(a). New management solutions, in addition to one of the first shipping computing platforms to include Intel vPro technology for embedded management and security, provide business customers with unprecedented control over a computing infrastructure.

The HP Client Premium Suite(a) now includes Altiris(R) AuditExpress(TM) software to help business customers better assess client security posture for the most critical system configurations. Meanwhile, HP Client Manager(a), based on Altiris service-oriented management technology, has been updated by Altiris to include centralized manageability for HP ProtectTools Embedded Security(a) through support of the HP Trusted Platform Module(a) chipset. Embedded Security delivers a unique profile, individual to an HP PC, for a more secure computing environment.

Altiris has worked with Intel to develop support for the Intel vPro platform. The HP dc7700 offers Intel vPro for agentless, first-line hardware and software diagnosis and remediation. Altiris integrated support of Intel vPro enables many IT service tasks to be available as needed. Furthermore, management capabilities are built into the hardware and enabled by Altiris software, eliminating operating system (OS) requirements in the event the system is off, locked or the OS is not working properly.

HP Client Manager is a free hardware management tool available to HP business PC customers. This tool provides in-depth client inventory, driver and utility updating, remote BIOS management, hardware monitoring, diagnostics and problem resolution. HP Client Manager integrates with Altiris(R) Client Management Suite(TM) software, HP Systems Insight Manager(a) and HP Client Premium Suite and HP Foundation Suite(a).
