White Rock Networks today announced that it has signed a supply agreement with Atlanta-based Cox Communications, Inc. As a result of the agreement, White Rock has shipped its VLX2020(R) SONET OC-48/192 Transport platform to multiple Cox locations.
"White Rock products fit well with our network infrastructure, helping Cox to provide highly reliable, high-bandwidth solutions for our customers," said Darryl Ladd, director of network architecture for Cox Communications, Inc. "White Rock provides a range of cost-effective transport solutions from DS1 to OC-192 including broadband Ethernet and Video on Demand delivery on a single converged transport infrastructure. These solutions allow us to deliver multiple services on the same platform while integrating with our 'Ring-in-Ring' architecture, which provides our customers with reliable, cost-effective solutions."
"White Rock is all about saving carriers money -- both CAPEX and OPEX -- while simultaneously enabling them to offer a greater depth of services to their customers," said Lonnie Martin, Founder and CEO of White Rock Networks. "Cox is pushing forward the boundaries of integrated service delivery in the U.S. and we are very excited to be working with them. Cox ran an extremely thorough RFP process and tested every facet of our solutions both in the lab and in the field which makes this award all the more gratifying."
The VLX2020 is NEBS Level 3 certified and its reduced footprint helps trim the costs carriers now pay to lease space in central offices, while its lower power consumption reduces carriers' energy expenses. The system allows carriers to support a wide range of broadband/wideband services from OC-192 to DS1 including Fast and Gigabit Ethernet. The VLX2020 is the industry's smallest, smartest OC-48/192 SONET ADM and the first product to make OC-192 truly affordable in the metro network.
