SecurityCoverage Posts Record Quarter, Adds More Telco Partners; Company Realizes 23 Percent Increase in Partners in Q2-2006 By Offering Superior Automated Computer Security Services for Telco Customers

Posted on: Friday, 8 September 2006, 12:00 CDT

SecurityCoverage, an innovator in automated computer security services for home and small businesses, announced today that the company has achieved another record quarter in revenue for its SecureIT and SecureIT Plus services. SecurityCoverage sales for Q2-2006 to telcos and other Internet service providers increased by 89 percent over Q1-2006 and nearly 800 percent over Q2-2005.

The record revenue was driven by a 23-percent increase in the number of partners the company signed during the quarter.

SecurityCoverage is now providing hands-free managed protection against viruses, spyware, worms, browser hijackers and other malware, as well as managing Microsoft patches and PC maintenance, for the customers of more than 140 telcos and Internet service providers in the United States.

The driving factor behind the company's impressive growth, according to SecurityCoverage President and CEO Robert O'Dell, is the increasing number of Internet threats and the difficulty households and businesses have managing separate products to address multiple desktop security concerns.

"Virus and spyware protection needs to be updated on a daily basis at the minimum in order to be effective," O'Dell said. "Yet, survey after survey shows both personal and business desktops are woefully out of date. The reason is virtually every security product on the market today requires users to develop a certain level of security expertise and rely upon their own initiative to ensure their system is up-to-date and working properly."

"Users who do attempt to keep up find it to be very time-consuming, productivity-draining and just plain frustrating. Our services allow them to offload this tedious task, assuring best-of-breed protection from all forms of malware, while freeing up more of their time."

O'Dell explained that telcos and Internet service providers are flocking to SecurityCoverage in record numbers due to the desire to differentiate their services and provide additional value to their customers. As evidence, he cited Associated Network Partners, Inc. (ANPI), a consortium of more than 350 independent telephone companies spanning 42 states, which recently signed a partnership agreement with SecurityCoverage.

"SecurityCoverage is committed to providing a service level that the independent telco requires," said Jamie Blakley, Manager of NewStreets, the Internet Division of ANPI. "As technology evolves, the independent telco is trusted by its customers to deliver security, as well as other advancements. SecurityCoverage provides a great service with a high level of support. Our members are able to offer the service with little effort and without impacting their overhead, which is a huge advantage for them."

O'Dell adds that SecurityCoverage has established an aggressive service provider program that is expected to double the company's partner base in the coming year.

"It's an ambitious goal," he says, "but given our current partners' success and the continued high level of interest in desktop security, we believe it is a realistic one."
