Chris Simpson brings wide range of sales and management experience from CIENA, Harris RF, Avici Systems and QUALCOMM to Netrake
Netrake, the premier provider of session controllers interconnecting global VoIP networks, today announced that it has hired telecom veteran Chris Simpson as its new vice president of sales, where he will be responsible for global sales, marketing and customer service. Simpson brings more than 20 years of experience in telecom and sales to Netrake, having served in key management sales positions at several leading companies, including Avici Systems, CIENA Communications, Harris RF Communications and QUALCOMM Inc.
Simpson most recently served as senior vice president of worldwide sales, marketing and customer service at Avici Systems, a provider of highly scalable routers to telecom operators, where he reported directly to the CEO and was responsible for all customer and market-facing activities. While at Avici, he restructured the sales force and successfully repositioned the company's products against larger, more well-funded competitors.
Prior to Avici, Simpson served as senior vice president of worldwide sales at CIENA Communications, a leading manufacturer and distributor of DWDM transport equipment, network switches and aggregation devices to major telecom carriers. At CIENA, he reported directly to the president and COO and led a direct sales team of about 150 people. While at CIENA, he more than doubled sales within just a few quarters and successfully orchestrated the launch of the company's Core Director Switch.
At Harris RF Communications, a leading manufacturer and distributor of advanced military radios, chips and security products, Simpson led the RF division sales team to its largest orders in the 39-year history of the division. At the wireless manufacturer QUALCOMM, he helped establish the new company as a leader in the wireless industry by securing several key sales contracts and creating multi-tier distribution systems for different products, including its trucking industry product in Europe and its phones and base station products throughout the world. At QUALCOMM, Simpson also created joint venture operating companies in strategic markets.
"Chris is an industry veteran, with a true understanding of the key players in the global telecom market and the challenges they face," said Bruce Hill, president and CEO of Netrake. "We look forward to fully leveraging Chris' relationships and proven experience in the telecom industry - both wireline and wireless - to increase Netrake's already impressive market penetration."
"The buzz around the session controller market has been almost deafening, but Netrake stands out from the crowd as the only session controller provider that brings a truly unique solution to the marketplace - one that was built to meet the peering needs of Tier 1 carriers and other leading service providers," said Simpson. "Selling is easy when you represent a superior product into a market which needs the reliability and capabilities of the nCITE session controller and that's why I'm looking forward to joining the Netrake team."
