Sigma Designs (Nasdaq:SIGM), a leader in digital media processing for consumer electronics, today announced that its EM8622L media processors are powering Sampo Corporation's new networked LCD TV, networked HD DTV box and wireless A/V adapter (projectors, LCD/PDP TV monitors).
"The consumer electronics market is hungry for all things digital," said Tom Chen, general manager of Sampo Networked Products R&D Business Unit (NBU). "In order to stay competitive in this market Sampo recognized that in addition to high definition we needed to include IP connectivity. The leader and established expert in this arena is Sigma Designs. Selecting Sigma's EM8622L media processor for our products was a natural progression towards technological quality and sound business sense."
Sampo's HD networking TV LME-32A1 and HD networking DTV Box IPE-A1 both provide dual streaming video input via DTV or Internet, supports HDMI output, enables digital music/photo control and playback, as well as video streaming and control. It is IEEE 802.11a/b/g Wi-Fi compliant and operates with existing networks. The system is also equipped with wireless security with 64-bit and 128-bit WEP encryption.
Sampo's wireless A/V adapter (projectors, LCD/PDP monitors) support video/audio transmission and screen capture. The adapter also supports M-to-1 projection (M=4), file transfer features, 1920 x 1080 image transmissions and PC/notebook receivers.
"Sigma has led the way in networked digital televisions and continues to add value for future products," said Ken Lowe, vice president of strategic marketing, Sigma Designs. "Companies like Sampo are seizing the opportunity and choosing Sigma to help pave the way."
