TV Worldwide's Maritime TV Selected As Official Webcaster of Maritime Security Expo, Sep. 19-20, Live From NYC
Posted on: Monday, 18 September 2006, 09:01 CDT
Maritime TV (www.MaritimeTV.com), an Internet TV channel on the TV Worldwide Network dedicated to coverage of the maritime industry, announced that it had again been selected by E.J. Krause and Associates as the official webcaster of the 2006 U.S. Maritime Security Expo, live from New York, N.Y. The free interactive webcast , which will also be featured on TV Worldwide's Homeland Defense TV Channel at www.homelanddefensetv.com, will include interviews with industry leaders attending the show and highlight the latest products, services, keynote sessions, issues and news concerning maritime security and its important relevance to homeland defense. Sponsors include General Dynamics Information Technology, Coda Octopus and Konrad Marine.
Maritime TV has attracted national press in recent years with its video reports highlighting deep industry and government concern about the threat to homeland security posed by the control of ships and crews in U.S. ports. The video reports were part of a series of programs highlighting the contributions of the U.S. Merchant Marine in World War II surrounding the World War II Memorial Dedication in addition to video news presentations on issues surrounding the decline of the U.S. flag fleet and what it means for homeland security. "We were overwhelmed with industry and government commentary on what the demise of the U.S. flag fleet portends for homeland security," remarked Dave Gardy, CEO of the TV Worldwide network. "This controversial issue continues to be looked at in a whole new light of homeland security and defense vulnerability. We intend to continue coverage on this and many other maritime security issues during the webcast, in addition to highlighting the latest technology advances."
Port and maritime security have recently been a top concern among security officials in Washington. "In the attacks of September 11, clearly we saw that the airplane became the bomb," stated Ed Kittel, Chief of the Explosives Division for the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) in a Maritime TV video news report. "It would not take much of a leap to show that a ship could become the bomb, particularly a ship with volatile cargo."
The event will be archived for viewing at www.MaritimeTV.com and www.HomelandDefenseTV.com. Participants should have the free Windows Media Player installed prior to the event and should log on by 11:15 AM ET on Tuesday, September 19. The webcast will run from 11:30 AM-3 PM ET on Tuesday and Wednesday, September 20.
