LightRiver Technologies, a Lucent Business Partner, to deliver iGEN(TM) Compact Switch to Southern California-based integrated communications company
Lucent Technologies (NYSE: LU) and LightRiver Technologies today announced that Telscape, a local and long-distance telephone company headquartered in Southern California, will use solutions from Lucent's Accelerate(TM) portfolio to offer voice and data services to its customers. Telscape Communications provides a full range of telephone services and products primarily for the Hispanic market, offering them a customized telecommunications experience.
Telscape will deploy Lucent's iGEN(TM) Compact Switch later this year, providing an additional 16,000 lines of capacity in these markets. LightRiver, a Lucent Business Partner, will support the deployment in cooperation with Lucent Worldwide Services.
"We selected the Lucent iGEN(TM) Compact Switch because of the services it supports and its competitive price, and because of its compact size and ease of deployment" said Pete Compton, senior vice president of Network Operations at Telscape. "We not only anticipate the iGEN(TM) switch will allow us to get to market much quicker than before but also, because of the switch's size and simplicity, we expect to dramatically reduce our operational costs including installation, training, HVAC requirements and ongoing provisioning."
The iGEN(TM) switch is a compact switch that can reduce operating expenses by up to 90 percent while enabling service providers to support current services and migrate to IP networks to offer next-generation services. Because of its design, the compact switch can be deployed in a matter of weeks rather than months, allowing service providers such as Telscape to quickly deploy services for their target customers.
"We believe the iGEN(TM) switch from Lucent will have tremendous success in the service provider market, allowing competitive carriers to deploy services quickly and economically and drastically reduce CAPEX and OPEX expenditures," said Glenn Johansen, president of LightRiver Technologies. "By choosing Lucent's switch to offer services in new markets and to support growth in existing markets, Telscape is deploying a platform that offers customers the reliable services they want."
"LightRiver Technologies has been working with Telscape to demonstrate how the iGEN compact switch can help them deliver service to their customers much quicker and more cost effectively," said Mark Wilson, vice president, Americas, Global Business Partners, Lucent Technologies. "By partnering with companies such as LightRiver, we can extend our reach in the market and deliver the most advanced telecommunications solutions to a wide variety of service providers."
