Fortinet -- the pioneer and leading provider of multi-threat security solutions -- today announced that Hanaro Telecom has successfully deployed Fortinet's FortiGate(TM)-800 security appliances to protect its Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) service offering for enterprises in Korea.
One of Korea's most successful integrated telecommunications companies, Hanaro Telecom has 3.6 million subscribers and provides a wide range of broadband Internet and voice services. The company recently began diversifying its services and building a network backbone to support secure VoIP communications for enterprises. To secure this high-speed network, Hanaro Telecom evaluated a variety of firewall solutions against its need for effective protection and high performance. Ultimately selecting Fortinet's FortiGate platform, Hanaro Telecom worked closely with Fortinet channel partner Nanopol to deploy a pair of FortiGate-800 enterprise-class multi-threat security systems, configured for High Availability (HA).
"Hanaro Telecom is very satisfied with its Fortinet solution and especially pleased with the remarkable performance of the FortiGate-800 systems," said Nanopol's Managing Director Mr. Park Hee-Jae. "Currently, Hanaro Telecom is using the FortiGate systems as firewalls, but can easily and cost-effectively expand their solution to include services like antivirus and intrusion prevention (IPS) should they require them in the future."
FortiGate multi-threat security platforms deliver comprehensive network and content protection through the integration of eight essential security applications and services -- including antivirus, firewall, VPN, intrusion prevention (IPS), anti-spam, anti-spyware, Web filtering and traffic shaping. Leveraging Fortinet's revolutionary FortiASIC(TM) Content Processor technology, the systems provide industry-leading performance and value in a hardened security platform. Fortinet's firewall technology and FortiGate systems have passed extensive third party validation, including certification with ICSA Labs, FIPS 140-2 and Common Criteria EAL4+, in addition to numerous industry awards. The FortiGate-800 systems are kept up to date automatically by Fortinet's FortiGuard(TM) Subscription Services, which provide continuous updates to ensure protection against the latest viruses, worms, Trojans, and other threats, around the clock and around the world.
"Hanaro Telecom marks our first large-scale deployment at a major service provider in Korea," said Mr. Jong Duk Kim, country manager of Fortinet Korea. "We expect that our success there and around the world will lead more service providers and telecos to choose Fortinet for premier security that meets the most stringent levels of performance, fault-tolerance and reliability."
