MCI to Provide 32,000 Volvo Group Employees Worldwide With Remote Access
Posted on: Tuesday, 22 June 2004, 06:00 CDT
ASHBURN, Va., June 22 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- MCI (MCIA.PK) today announced it has signed an agreement with Volvo IT to enable its mobile employees to conduct business while away from the office. Under the terms of the two-year deal, MCI is providing managed IP remote access services to 32,000 Volvo Group employees to enable access to corporate resources and the Internet from anywhere at anytime in more than 150 countries via dial-up and WiFi.
With this agreement, MCI surpasses the 1 million corporate user mark, bypassing all other service providers two-fold, to further extend its IP remote access market leadership position that spans over a decade.
As Volvo IT's preferred provider, MCI will migrate Volvo Group users in the United States, Europe, the Middle East and Africa from a private solution to the Volvo Group's in-house IP VPN solution, utilizing MCI's comprehensive IP remote access platform. As a result, Volvo Group employees will have secure access to critical company applications including e-mail, collaboration tools, and sales and aftermarket resources.
"Volvo IT's decision to utilize MCI as its preferred provider underscores our commitment to deliver top-notch customer service and performance," said Cindy Andreotti, president of MCI Enterprise Markets. "Volvo IT can rely on MCI's global IP network and advanced remote access capabilities to enhance productivity and keep its engine humming from anywhere at anytime."
With MCI's Remote Access platform and Enterprise Services Management, Volvo IT administrators can easily manage and monitor end-user accounts via a Web-based portal with real-time usage statistics and analysis down to the end-user level. Volvo IT also plans to further strengthen security by taking advantage of MCI's built-in security and application-awareness capabilities that will enable them to configure end-user computers to prevent unauthorized access to network resources.
