GERMANTOWN, Md. and CHICAGO, June 22 /PRNewswire/ -- At SuperComm 2004, Acterna's Global Service Solutions division has introduced a series of Education Course Flows to prepare, educate and train network operators focused on the deployment of advanced new services, such as voice over IP (VoIP). The Education Course Flows are delivered by Acterna professionals with a deep understanding of the methodologies and techniques that can help network operators accelerate deployment of new services and increase reliability and quality.
At SuperComm booth # 23743, Acterna will display its complete series of education and training programs, as well as its entire set of industry-leading services, including: VoIP troubleshooting and baselining, fiber characterization and a demonstration of how Acterna's On-site Calibration Service can efficiently calibrate test equipment to industry standards.
"Acterna's Global Services Solution division continues to offer attractive services ranging from instrument support for the field technician to complex, global network management initiatives," said Bill Howden, vice president of Acterna's Global Services Solution division. "Our Education Course Flow initiative underscores Acterna's commitment to understanding the most important needs of our customers. We are well prepared to help our customers understand the potential pitfalls of VoIP, for example, a complex service that is poised for significant growth."
According to industry sources, VoIP traffic is expected to more than double from 30 billion minutes this year to 80 billion by 2007.
Howden added, "Our Course Flows program ensures customers have access to our depth of industry knowledge, technical expertise and the do's-and-don'ts that enable smooth service deployment. Global Service Solutions will continue to provide solutions that let customers speed service deployment, improve network operations, ensure customer satisfaction and increase profitability."
In addition to VoIP, the complete set of Course Flow programs address technologies such as fiber, transport, IP/VPN, and access technologies. All course flows will consist of three or four one day sessions delivered on-site, over the web or by taking part in open enrollment classes.
Global Services Solutions -- Comprehensive Services Meeting Customer Demands
Education Course Flows are part of a comprehensive suite of Acterna communications test services and solutions, including:
* Acterna Certified Equipment (ACE) -- a global program leveraging the
company's processes, support team and ability to efficiently and
effectively overhaul and resell equipment that might otherwise languish
as excess inventory, or that is beyond economic repair. With ACE, all
software updates, engineering changes, functional verifications,
calibrations, and repairs are fully completed, ensuring the equipment
will meet industry standards and specifications. ACE also ensures that
these products are supported by Acterna's leading services, warranty
and technical assistance.
* Acterna's Fiber Characterization Service -- a complete end-to-end fiber
characterization test and consulting service for carriers and
enterprises measuring overall fiber quality. It measures properties of
a fiber optic installation such as losses, reflections, and
dispersions, enabling rapid verification of the fiber's integrity and
capacity. It also provides recommendations for improvements on the
network.
* On-Site Calibration Services -- a comprehensive approach to calculating
a test instrument's performance against a known reference standard, a
process to report those results, and the ability to conduct necessary
adjustments that correct performance deviations to ensure the
instrument meets manufacturer specifications.
