Alliance Fiber Optic Products, Inc. SpectraMux Compact CCWDM Passes Stringent Telcordia 1209 and 1221 Qualification

Posted on: Monday, 8 September 2003, 06:00 CDT

SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 8, 2003--Alliance Fiber Optic Products, Inc. (Nasdaq:AFOP) is an innovative supplier of fiber optic components, subsystems and integrated modules for the optical network equipment market. AFOP today announced that it has achieved a significant milestone: the new SpectraMux(TM) Compact CWDM (CCWDM) has passed the industry's most stringent reliability testing procedures and achieved Telcordia 1209 and 1221 qualification.

AFOP is committed to providing leading edge, Telcordia-qualified products that can withstand harsh operating environments. Telcordia qualification is significant because it demonstrates that the SpectraMux CCWDM meets the long-term reliability standards required for expanding high-capacity networks from the enterprise to the core.

"The rapid pace at which this product has been brought from development to successful Telcordia qualification is quite remarkable," said Peter Chang, President and CEO of AFOP. "I am very pleased with the experience, skill and dedication of our team. This, in turn, will give our customers the further confidence to design the SpectraMux CCWDM product line into current and future systems."

AFOP's SpectraMux CCWDM module is designed to significantly reduce costs, while improving optical performance, in a package less than 1/4 the size of conventional CWDM modules. With a channel spacing of 20 nm and wide bandpass characteristics it is ideal for use with non-temperature controlled lasers. Other features include high center wavelength accuracy and stability, low insertion loss, high directivity, an epoxy-free optical path, and low polarization dependent loss. These CCWDM Mux/Demuxes are available in four or eight channels and include an expansion port for 16 channel systems.
