D2 Technologies Opens Boston Design Center for Mobile Device Software Development

D2 Technologies announces today that it has opened a Design Center in
Maynard, MA, just outside of Boston. The Center will be focused on the
development of software products for mobile communication devices.
Zigurd Mednieks, chief software architect, who reports to Matt Randmaa,
vice president of engineering, heads the Design Center. Mednieks is a
widely respected technologist, and the author of books and book chapters
on telephony and programming published by leading publishers. D2 is best
known for its vPort software, which is deployed in residential products,
and is designed for CPE products such as wired/wireless Voice-enabled
Terminal Adapters, routers and gateways, as well VoIP phones and
handsets.
Technology Authority Zigurd Mednieks Heads the Design Center
Zigurd Mednieks joins D2 from JumpTap, where he was chief architect for
handset technologies. Previously, he was CTO at mobile games maker
Chasma, where he pioneered mobile multiplayer games. Prior to Chasma, at
Erickson Juniper Networks, he helped create the J20 Gateway GPRS Serving
Node.
Zigurd is an entrepreneur and a technology industry veteran. He has
started, raised financing for and sold companies. He has 20 years of
experience in visual and voice user interfaces, embedded systems for
telecom infrastructure, CPE telephony systems, unified messaging,
broadband voice/data systems and network applications development. He
studied electrical engineering and computer science at MIT.
