Wave7 Optics Introduces Network Management Suite for EPON and GPON FTTP Services Via Trident7(TM) Optical Access Platform

Posted on: Wednesday, 27 September 2006, 09:00 CDT

Wave7 Optics Inc., a leading supplier of standards-based

fiber-to-the-home or -premises (FTTH/FTTP) equipment for residential and

business services, today announced the release of the W7 Management

Suite, a full-featured, standards-based element management system

supporting its Trident7™ Optical Access

Platform EPON / GPON product line. The W7 Management Suite gives Wave7

customers complete "OAM&P"

support for evolving EPON and GPON-based services, including POTS and

VOIP telephony, various data services and RF or IP video.

In the area of service connection, Wave7 Optics has created a

provisioning mediation system for flow through service provisioning of

Wave7 Optics equipment, as well as video head-end controllers and voice

switches. The W7 Management Suite also offers an optional triple-play

order entry and accounts receivable package. This flow-through

provisioning interface has been extended to allow subscriber account

number and address information to automatically flow from the billing

system to the customer premises devices. This design supports

open-billing system interfaces and currently interoperates with numerous

third party billing systems.

Customer care features include a web application that provides

subscriber service status views for customer service representatives,

which is especially beneficial in "open access"

networks with multiple service providers. Additional network reporting

and notification tools are also part of this complete suite of

applications for the W7 Management Suite.

"The W7 Management Suite features

industry-leading performance and usability enhancements to address the

industry's growing EPON and GPON requirements,"

said Emmanuel Vella, Chief Marketing Officer of Wave7 Optics. "With

a completely standards-based approach, Wave7 helps carriers integrate

FTTP into their existing NMS and OSS structures and provides significant

benefits, such as reduced cost of ownership, increased operating

efficiencies, rapid service deployment and smoother OSS/BSS integration."

Wave7 Optics is exhibiting the complete Trident7 and its Last Mile Link™

product lines at the FTTH Council Conference in Las Vegas, October 2 --

5, at The Venetian Resort (booth 121). In addition, Wave7 Optics CTO,

Jim Farmer, is participating in the panel discussion and presentation, "FTTH

Success Stories -- Municipal Networks,"

on October 3rd, 11 am --

12 pm and is giving a paper, "Optical

Considerations in FTTH Networks," on October 4th,

10:30 -- 11:00 am. Stephen Thomas, Chief

Architect for Wave7 Optics, will present his paper, "OAM&P

in Passive Optical Networks," on October 4th,

1:45 -- 2:15 pm.
