AMD Opteron Processors Power LinuxWorld Conference's Best Cluster Solution: The IBM DB2 Integrated Cluster Environment

SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 7, 2003--AMD (NYSE:AMD) today announced the AMD Opteron(tm) processor powered the Best Cluster Solution as voted by LinuxWorld Conference and Expo.

The conference, produced by IDG World Expo, announced the Product Excellence Awards, which recognize open source product and service innovations. The award-winning IBM DB2 Integrated Cluster Environment (ICE) is composed of several recently announced products: the 64-bit DB2 Universal Database application, SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 8 operating system for AMD64 and the IBM eServer 325 featuring the AMD Opteron processor. It can provide compute-intensive industries such as research, finance, and engineering with an easily managed, high-performance infrastructure.

"This award is indicative of the open source community's eager acceptance of the AMD Opteron processor and its native 32- and 64-bit capabilities," said Marty Seyer, vice president and general manager of AMD's Microprocessor Business Unit.
