IBM, Motorola to join hands on computing platforms for telecoms
LOS ANGELES, June 23 (Xinhua) -- IBM and Motorola Computer Group said on Wednesday they plan to work together to promote highly integrated, standards-based computing platform technologies for telecommunications.
IBM said the collaboration will combine the strengths of both companies -- IBM's expertise in the enterprise server market and Motorola Computer Group's know-how in communications and real-time, embedded computing technology.
As part of the agreement, Motorola plans to include IBM eServer technology in application-enabled platform offerings, while IBM plans to add Motorola's technology to eServer systems
IBM said specific solutions, development and distribution specifics will be detailed in subsequent announcements.
"This unique collaboration seeks to provide the first 'from enterprise to the network edge' computing solutions, which can allow customers to improve time-to-market of their products, help reduce risk and help lower operational costs," IBM said.
