Ample Communications Receives 2003 Comet Award From Communication Systems Design Magazine
Posted on: Monday, 22 September 2003, 06:00 CDT
Ample Communications, a leading provider of highly efficient silicon for wire line communications systems, today announced that it is the recipient of a 2003 Comet Award from Communication Systems Design Magazine.
"Since its inception three years ago, Ample Communications has delivered a number of leading edge frame processing products and became the first company that has turned oversubscription into a viable approach to Ethernet aggregation," said Loring Wirbel, group editorial director for Communication Systems Design Magazine. "The company's latest Harrier frame processor family of devices are a new class of intelligent silicon that preprocesses Ethernet frames to efficiently handle oversubscribed Ethernet ports, providing a flexible and cost-effective approach for communication systems developers."
Now in its fourth year, the Comet Awards honor small to medium-sized companies that have demonstrated the vision, focus, leading-edge technology and risk-taking skills to help them become significant players in the communications market. Comet award winners are selected by a team of editors representing Communication Systems Design Magazine, EE Times and CommsDesign.com, from a list of wireless, wire line and communication optical solutions companies that have shown the potential to become rising stars.
"The Comet awards have become a prestigious milestone marker for companies with innovative technology and the drive to make an impact on the industry," said Vish Akella, chief executive officer and co-founder of Ample Communications. "The recognition we have received from these respected industry experts, who have seen numerous companies and technologies come and go, is a tremendous vote of confidence in our continued ability to execute on our technology and business plans."
Founded in Sept. 2000, Ample Communications has been shipping silicon for revenue since December 2001. The company's multi-speed, multi-protocol frame processor solutions provide system developers with a flexibility that allows them to easily expand their product portfolios and migrate their switch and router systems to emerging technologies and line rates, often by a simple software upgrade.
Ample Communications' product line spans various market segments including enterprise and WAN communications infrastructure equipment.
