Intel introduces new Celeron chip for value PCs
LOS ANGELES, June 24 (Xinhua) -- Intel Corp. on Thursday introduced the Celeron D processor, a new chip family for low-cost desktop PCs.
"This processor line represents a new generation of Intel technology for desktop value market segments," Intel said in a statement.
The Celeron D processor, based on 90 nanometer (nm) manufacturing process, features a 256KB level 2 cache and 533 MHz system bus. Previously, Intel's Celeron chips for desktop PCs came with 128KB of level 2 cache and 400MHz system bus.
Intel claims that its Celeron D processor 335, 330, 325, and 320, available at frequencies of 2.80 GHz, 2.66 GHz, 2.53 GHz and 2.40 GHz respectively, deliver the right combination of features and frequency at appropriate price points for value PC market segments.
The company priced the Celeron D processors 335, 330, 325, and 320 at 117 US dollars, 89 dollars, 79 dollars and 69 dollars, respectively, when purchased in 1,000-unit quantities.
