Shop Smarter Online This Holiday Season With "Coupon and Deal Sites"

For millions of savvy consumers who shopped online for Christmas last year, comparison shopping sites were all the rage, saving them time and money and eliminating the hassles of crowded malls and long checkout lines. This year, online holiday shopping gets even smarter, with "coupon and deal" sites like eDeals.com (www.edeals.com) that not only help shoppers find the lowest prices, but serve up coupons, deals and special offers that shoppers can't find anywhere else (Smart Money Magazine, May 2006).
"We recently conducted a Multi-channel Shopping Transformation Study, asking 2500 online shoppers to rank how helpful 'features' were in making their shopping decision. Not surprisingly, 'free shipping' and 'promotional discounts' were the top consumer picks among shopping influencers, as they were ranked Extremely Helpful and Very Helpful by 89% and 86% of consumers surveyed," said Lauren Freedman, president, the e-tailing group (www.e-tailing.com).
Continued Freedman, "Shoppers seek out deals and merchants must continue to partner with sites where shoppers can quickly and conveniently access those deals online. For retailers, Coupon and Deal sites are certainly something that should be part of their advertising arsenal this holiday season."
Moreover, retailers offering coupon deals typically sport a space on their online order forms to enter promotional codes. But to obtain this special sequence of numbers, consumers must often register at the site and provide personal information.
Coupon and Deal sites not only eliminate the need to "crack codes," but are often provided with exclusive deals from major retailers that can only be found on coupon and deal sites.
"Retailers are beginning to understand that coupon and deal sites send consumers who are ready to save money back to the retailer at the point of purchase so they give us exclusive deals. Compared to traditional advertising and online marketing, this model is extremely cost-effective for retailers as there are virtually zero costs," said David Abraham, eDeals.com co-founder.
Coupon and Deal sites also take the guesswork out of smart online bargain-hunting, and produce relevant and personalized deals and product information for a more intuitive and streamlined shopping experience.
That's one reason Smart Money Magazine (www.smartmoney.com/mag), in its March 2006 article, "How to Make a Million" said, "Speaking of shopping online, make sure you use price-comparison sites like eDeals.com and ConsumerClub.com that also offer Internet coupons."
For example, eDeals.com aggregates common and unique services including travel, auction, best coupons and deals. Shoppers can look for bargains in distinct segments including: "gift giving,""Latest Deals,""Expiring Soon,""Top Ten Deals Countdown," with different search criteria like free shipping, discounts and coupons.
The Motley Fool (www.fool.com), in a search for dishwashers in an August 9 article on comparison shopping, said about Coupon and Deal sites, "eDeals.com found 1,414 possibilities, including a stainless-steel Whirlpool model for $389. Sweet. Maybe you don't need a dishwasher, or any other appliances for that matter. That's fine. If you are in the market, (these sites) are simple to use and offer cash back on everyday purchases when you use their coupons."
eDeals.com also offers an automated "Power Auction" that presents shoppers with additional low-price deals from eBay.com, Overstock.com and Ubid.com, tailored to their current search and presented in a single window.
Online travel is another area where consumers are always looking for the best deals. In a breakthrough for consumers, eDeals.com will automatically search multiple sites within seconds, including major travel sites expedia.com and Hotwire.com, and deliver combined results from all three into a single browser window. This eliminates the time consuming and often confusing need to have multiple browsers open at the same time.
eDeals.com is free and requires no personal information or registration.
