Andrew H. Smith Joins Meggitt Silicone Products As Engineering Manager/Chief Design Engineer

MCMINNVILLE, Ore., Sept. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Meggitt Silicone Products (MSP), based in McMinnville, OR, announced today that Andrew H. Smith has joined the company as Engineering Manager/Chief Design Engineer. Smith joins MSP from Kirkhill-TA, Haskon Division where he was the Engineering Director for more than 15 years.

Dan Rader, MSP president, said, "Andrew's extensive engineering and design experience will be extremely valuable for MSP as we implement several new initiatives to develop and improve our product line for the aerospace and other industries such as medical and nuclear."

Prior to Kirkhill-TA, Smith was Chief Engineer at Chase-Walton Elastomers and at Haskon Corporation. He started his career as Tool Designer for Rogers Corporation.

Among his accomplishments, Smith designed and qualified the standard fire seal configuration currently used on the 777 and 737X aircraft models. His engine vane wiper seal design is currently used on the Pratt & Whitney F119 engine. He developed a nickel graphite seal technology for EMI applications used on the Comanche helicopter for Sikorsky.

Smith also designed and qualified air ducts for the GE90 jet engine. He has implemented numerous lean manufacturing and process automation projects leading to significant cost reductions. His accomplishments have greatly contributed to his companies' growth into multi-million dollar aerospace suppliers.
