Lucent Technologies Selected By PAETEC to Support Continued Network Expansion

Three-year, $30 million deal to purchase Lucent systems and services signed with a fast-growing national telecommunications company focused on business customers
Lucent Technologies (NYSE: LU) today announced a three-year, $30 million dollar agreement with PAETEC Communications, a communications solutions provider serving 27 markets nationwide. Under terms of the agreement, PAETEC will purchase and deploy Lucent 5E-XC(TM) switch technology throughout its expanding coverage area. In addition, PAETEC will pilot Lucent's Softswitch this summer in a trial of high-speed VoIP services for business customers. Lucent Worldwide Services is providing engineering, installation and network integration services to assist with the deployment.
PAETEC specializes in meeting the demanding needs of business customers comprised of large corporations, financial institutions, hospitals, hotels, universities and the growing government market.
"The Lucent 5E-XC(TM) switch technology is a proven platform to support our business expansion within existing cities - as well as growing into new markets," said EJ Butler, co-chief operating officer at PAETEC. "Evolving our network into an IP environment opens up new possibilities in the virtual world. Over time, we intend to leverage our existing technical infrastructure while allowing us to take full advantage of voice and data convergence."

Lucent's Accelerate VoIP Solutions
