Tokyo, Aug. 19 (Jiji Press)--Apple Japan Inc. will strengthen sales of computers to corporate users, company officials said Tuesday.
To that end, the Japanese unit of U.S. computer maker Apple Computer Inc., whose sales officials total less than 10 now, will increase the number by six-fold, the officials said.
Encouraged by the recent strong demand for its high-end personal computers and servers, Apple Japan expects to expand its customer base, which is mainly comprised of publishers and educational institutions, they said.
Apple's new Xserve server, is preinstalled with the company's new Mac OS X Server operating system based on the Unix system, enhancing operational stability and making it easy to link up with other systems.
Among Apple Japan's new customers are Tokyo Star Bank, which plans to introduce Apple's iMac personal computers at 30 of its branches for customer services, and a major music software retailer that has adopted Apple's servers for its electronic commerce system.
