IRVINE, Calif., Oct. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Avamar Technologies, Inc. a leading provider of enterprise data protection software, today announced a record third quarter, with continued growth in both new customer adoption and repeat business from existing customers expanding their Axion deployments. Revenue in the third quarter grew over 165% from the same period in 2005, and 22% from the second quarter.
Recent customer wins and expanded deployments for the third quarter of 2006 include: Appia Communications, Desert Diamond Casinos, Level3 Communications, LLC, the New York State Lottery, Pechanga Resort & Casino, Pomona College, RIS Technology, Inc., the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles, and Word & Brown Insurance Administrators, Inc.
"Avamar's customers keep coming back for more," stated Ed Walsh, CEO of Avamar. "We continue to see new customer adoption, but we also have enterprise accounts coming back for their second, third or fourth purchase. Customers quickly see that they can reduce their total cost of ownership of their current backup environments, while getting the best, most efficient backup and recovery for remote offices, data centers, desktops and laptops. Once they've deployed Avamar and start realizing the benefits, it just makes sense to expand the efficiencies and the data protection across their business."

* Avamar launched its remote office data protection solution that enables companies to easily and cost-effectively backup and restore remote office data over existing WANs. * Avamar announced support for efficient backup and restore of VMware environments, tailoring its industry-leading solution to address customer challenges around the backup of multiple virtual machines. * Avamar delivered support for improving and accelerating NetApp/NDMP backups, allowing NetApp customers to dramatically decrease backup windows. * Avamar announced strategic partnerships with Hitachi Data Systems, SUN and Crowe Chizek.
