INTEL DEVELOPER FORUM -- Appro (http://www.appro.com), a leading developer of high-density, high-performance servers, announced today that it is demonstrating its new HyperBlade Mini-Cluster Solution based on Intel(R) Xeon(TM) processors at the Intel Developer Forum in the Intel PCI-Express, booth (#119) at the San Jose Convention Center, October 16 - 18, 2003. The Appro HyperBlade Mini-Cluster solution will feature a combination of four nodes running Oracle Database 10G connected with InfiniBand(TM) 4x.
The Appro HyperBlade Mini-Cluster is designed for the High-Performance Computational (HPC) market and is a fully integrated cluster solution supporting up to 17 compute blades including a master node. This is the ideal solution for customers who want to start small in a modular clustering computing environment. If transaction or database volumes grow, they can add a full-size HyperBlade cluster cabinet that supports up to 80 nodes. Blade servers fit both cluster cabinets with the ability to mix and match blades as needed.
The Appro HyperBlade offers a modular, building block approach to creating a reliable, adaptive IT infrastructure where customers can scale out and make most efficient use of space. In addition, Appro HyperBlade clusters offer high-speed interconnect and Remote Server Management software options. The Appro BladeDome Server Management software is designed exclusively for HyperBlade clusters to deliver a cost-effective and simple solution for system administrators. This is a sophisticated hardware-and-software monitoring and management tool that gives you in-depth visual feedback on all your hardware subsystems. It offers a feature-set application delivering basic management functions without the use of expensive baseboard controllers.
"Today, businesses require high-performance and high-density computing Intel-based running Linux clusters that deliver a competitive advantage through greater cost efficiencies and respond more quickly to changing business needs. Customers also demand innovative blade server architecture with the performance and investment protection to scale across the enterprise. The Appro HyperBlade cluster is designed to address today's business requirement," said Daniel Kim, CEO and President of Appro International.
"Servers based on the Intel(R) Xeon(TM) processor are built with high performance and reliability as the core. When combined with powerful remote management capabilities such as in Appro's new HyperBlade product, customers can reduce IT complexity and improve efficiency for enterprise and high-performance servers," said Rick Hermann, manager, high performance computing program office, Intel.
