Posted on: Wednesday, 30 June 2004, 06:00 CDT
LANDesk Software, a leader in integrated desktop, server and mobile device management solutions, today announced it will make LANDesk(R) System Manager available with Intel 915 & 925x Chipset-based Intel(R) Desktop Boards.
"We are pleased to provide LANDesk System Manager to our global integrator network," said Joel Christensen, director of Marketing for Desktop Board Operations at Intel Corporation. "LANDesk System Manager is a proven solution that helps administrators remotely track, manage and maintain hardware assets."
In an environment where IT professionals are asked to do more with less, LANDesk System Manager is a versatile solution for managing internetworked client PCs. LANDesk System Manager provides critical features to maximize PC uptime and security, including:
-- Systems monitoring of critical settings such as temperature, fan speed, voltages, power supply status and more, tuned specifically for Intel processors, chipsets and other Intel-specific implementations
-- Security, including chassis intrusion alerts, USB mass storage detection and alerting, modem/analog detection and notification, and hardware and software change configuration management
-- Reports that generate data on installed applications, BIOS information, operating system details, event logs and software inventory
-- Remote management for transmitting critical alerts and enabling administrators to view system health via the Internet
-- Compatibility, offering console support for other enterprise applications via application integration modules (LANDesk Management Suite, HP OpenView, IBM Tivoli and CA Unicenter)
-- Standards-based support, including Wired for Management (WfM), Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP), Common Information Model (CIM), Advanced System Format (ASF), Web-based Enterprise Management (WBEM) and Microsoft Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI)
"Intel motherboards serve as the nerve center for millions of machines designed and manufactured by channel VARs and OEMs," said Dave R. Taylor, vice president of worldwide marketing for LANDesk Software. "Once an Intel desktop motherboard is integrated into a machine and shipped to a customer, IT managers must protect their investment, keeping tabs on critical system information to ensure optimal performance. However, in distributed networks, achieving cost-effective systems management does not always come easily."
Access and Availability
Intel 915 & 925x Boards will ship with a download agent for LANDesk System Manager. The agent will provide an HTML link to a site where the full version of the client for LANDesk System Manager can be downloaded at no additional charge for Intel motherboard customers. A special offer will be made to Intel motherboard customers for the LANDesk System Manager Administrator Console and Software Developer Kit (SDK) for expanded functionality and customization.
