State of Oklahoma's OneNet Selects Sprint for Wireless Voice and Data Solutions

OVERLAND PARK, Kan., June 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Sprint has been awarded a new two-year contract by OneNet, the State of Oklahoma's official telecommunications network, to provide wireless voice and data devices and solutions, including Sprint PCS Business Connection(SM) Enterprise Edition, Sprint PCS Ready Link(SM) and Sprint PCS Data Link(SM). This contract allows the various state agencies and other public-sector entities to gain access to wireless services, Sprint PCS Vision(SM) Phones and Sprint PCS Connection Cards(TM) to enhance mobile communications for their employees.

"We see this contract as a valuable, much-needed resource for all of the constituents we serve," said Kurt Snodgrass, Vice Chancellor for Information Technology and Telecommunications, Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education. "Mobility is becoming increasingly important in state government, and Sprint's wireless voice and data services will provide a framework for us to work more efficiently and effectively."

Sprint PCS Business Connection allows users secure wireless access to their agency email system via select Web-enabled Sprint PCS Phones, Sprint PCS Vision Smart Devices and handheld devices/laptops anywhere on the enhanced Sprint Nationwide PCS Network. This service has enabled key executives within various government entities to maintain real-time connectivity to their computer desktop and voice services using the Sprint PCS Vision technology.

Also available through this contract, Sprint PCS Data Link provides employees a secure, high-speed wireless connectivity solution to access their agency's Intranet, databases, applications, shared files and Internet using a Sprint PCS Connection Card with a laptop or PDA via the enhanced Sprint Nationwide PCS Network. Also available is Sprint PCS Ready Link, a nationwide two-way walkie-talkie style service that gives users a quick, convenient way to communicate one-on-one or to groups of up to five with the simple push of a button.
