OSS CEO Announces New Publication on Google Activities in Government

Posted on: Thursday, 12 October 2006, 12:00 CDT

WASHINGTON, Oct. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Robert Steele, CEO of OSS.Net, Inc. is pleased to announce the availability of the Google Government Report (GGReport) that focuses on how U.S. governments are using (or not using) Google technologies and capabilities. See a sample report at http://tinyurl.com/y44xtq.

The publisher, Stephen Arnold, is the author of The Google Legacy: How Google's Internet Search is Transforming Application Software. According to Arnold, "Google has just begun to penetrate the U.S. Federal government, a market sector worth billions to Google, yet the knowledge of Google within various government entities is limited, narrowed, and distorted by the hyperbole of Google's advertising revenue."

The publication, in addition to the explanation and recommendation of certain software and systems, will also specifically address the wide-ranging potential of the Google Appliance and the OneBox API (Application Programming Interface) for use by government entities. According to Robert Steele, "The three pillars of the Global Information Grid are going to be STRONG ANGEL III open source software tools, the Googleplex, and CISCO's Application Oriented Networking."

GGReport will be very helpful to federally-funded activities that are now often judged on the basis of their search engine ranking (e.g. the agency's relevancy in a search query for "energy"). In this light, Google holds substantial power in some very important arenas.

GGReport aims to uncover new ways of using and integrating data, not only for the government, but for the enterprise world as well. Whether it's capturing Google Earth images on a PDA or cell phone, or integrating with existing Customer Relationship Management (CRM) applications, Arnold is certain Google will take data in directions "we would never thought possible with a search engine."

GGReport is an electronic publication and expects to publish 15 issues per year. The subscription fee is $50 for federal, state and local government employees, and $375 for non-government entities. Arnold is developing a companion website that will eventually feature a weblog. Learn more at http://www.ggreport.com/.

Mr. Stephen E. Arnold, publisher of the GGReport, was the first recipient of the Open Source Solutions Platinum Award for Lifetime Achievement, in 2006. As president of Arnold Information Technology, he produces reports and architectures that make money. Learn more at http://www.arnoldit.com/bio/bio.html
