TV Producers Light Their Pilot With First Ever Video Casting Call on YouTube(TM) and MySpace(TM)

IRVINE, Calif., Oct. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- koldCast.com today announced that the creators of a new television show for young adults have posted the first ever nationwide video casting call on the koldCast(TM) Channel within YouTube, and on MySpace. The first ever video casting call on the two social networking sites was created by producers Bill Neal and Leslie Carde for exclusive release on MySpace and YouTube via the privately-managed koldCast Channel. The proposed new television show, The New 22, will be hosted by five savvy, smart and sophisticated teen personalities. The producers of the show hope to find their first hosts on-line on the koldCast Channel.
Like most uploaded video's found on YouTube and MySpace, the koldCast- hosted video casting call for The New 22 is consistent with the organic nature of these sites. It features a group of randomly selected local teens, without any professional acting experience, introducing The New 22 to other teens who aspire to be professional actors. The featured casting call directs interested teens to film and upload an organic video audition of their own to the koldCast Channel on YouTube.
"We could have taken a conventional approach to our first casting call for The New 22 and worked with any of the great talent agencies who do this type of work but, we know that our future audience is socially active on YouTube, MySpace(TM), and other strong networking sites, and we want to connect with them in a way that not only relates forward to the format for the show," said co-producer Leslie Carde, "but in a way that promotes the show, at a grass roots level, through the sharing of our video casting call within a teen's own personal network of friends and relatives."
A big-time shot at hosting The New 22, for five lucky teens, who would clearly become celebrities in their own right, starts after hearing about koldCast on YouTube or MySpace, most often from a friend. Then, after a little thought and a bit of nervousness, home video camera's start rolling and aspiring teen actors lay it on the line and upload their finished audition. koldCast and the producers believe several hundred audition video's will be uploaded from around the country. "We'll be monitoring the video submissions and how many 'views' each koldCast audition video receives. Then, we'll apply some professional techniques to the process and ultimately narrow the field to 22 finalists from which only 10 candidates will be invited to our Southern California casting call," noted Bill Neal, co-producer of The New 22, "It should get very interesting, very exciting, very soon."
David S. Samuels, CEO of SoCal-based EMmerzion Worldwide, an entertainment marketing firm retained to respond to sponsorship and brand placement inquiries on behalf of Neal and Carde's production company, Evolution Entertainment, said "Selecting MySpace and YouTube, via koldCast, to premiere their casting call for the show is simply brilliant. If you're going to light the fuse for a proposed pilot, this IS the smart new way to do it."
