News Talk 1300AM KKOL Will Boost Signal to 50,000 Watts

Salem Communications Corporation (NASDAQ:SALM), a leading U.S. radio broadcaster, Internet content provider and magazine publisher targeting audiences interested in Christian and family-themed content and conservative values, today announced that 1290AM KIKN, which is simulcast with News Talk 1300AM KKOL, will terminate its signal effective October 18 in preparation of its planned improvement of KKOL's signal to 50,000 watts. Salem is taking this action as part of requirements regulated by the FCC.
Joe Gonzalez, general manager of the Salem Seattle cluster of radio stations, said, "We hope to receive final FCC approval within the next 30 days and all of our News Talk listeners will benefit from the improvement. The Seattle radio cluster includes stations 820 AM KGNW, News Talk 1300AM KKOL and 1290AM KIKN, 1590 AM-KLFE, 1680AM KDOW and Radio Sol 1360 AM. They are owned and operated by Salem Communications Corporation (NASDAQ:SALM), a leading U.S. radio broadcaster, Internet content provider and magazine publisher targeting audiences interested in Christian and family-themed content and conservative values. In addition to its radio properties, Salem Communications owns Salem Radio Representatives(TM), a national radio advertising sales force; Salem Web Network(TM), an Internet provider of Christian content and online streaming; and Salem Publishing(TM), a publisher of Christian-themed magazines.
