So says a new video produced by the National Telecommunications Cooperative Association (NTCA) that sends a clear message about how support from the universal service fund (USF) ensures affordable access to communications services for consumers throughout the country.
"The Sweet Sounds of the Universal Service Fund" is a humorous animated video short featuring the "Digital Cowboys" who sing about the many benefits of USF. Independent communications providers use universal service funds to help recover the extremely high costs of maintaining and upgrading the network infrastructure needed to deliver advanced communications services to remote and rural areas of the country.
Support from the USF helps connect schools, libraries and rural health care providers to the Internet. Continued support from the USF is necessary to keep rural consumers and communities connected to the communications network, and the opportunities for commerce, health, education, safety and entertainment that network delivers.
