CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa., Oct. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- PointRoll, Inc., the leading developer of innovative rich media technology solutions, today announced it has named Shannon Thompson as its new Director of Channel Development. Thompson previously inaugurated and rolled out the use of rich media at Yahoo! where she built and managed the search giant's ad technologies team.
"At PointRoll, we believe that authentic, first-tier rich media lies at the intersection of creativity and technological innovation, and it is there that Shannon has built her career," said Andy Ellenthal, Senior Vice President Global Sales, PointRoll. "Shannon's strength lies in her ability to navigate the delicate, difficult task of balancing user experience with web site integrity and advertiser wants and needs. She will continue that work at PointRoll developing key publisher and portal relationships as we introduce new products to support this side of the market."
Thompson will focus on expanding and managing the company's strategic publisher partnerships including current and new members of PointRoll's elite IncludedTM Program, which has membership including AOL, MSN, and MySpace. Shannon will concentrate on best practices in rolling out rich media from both an operational and a sales perspective.
Before joining PointRoll, Thompson spent seven years at Yahoo! where she built and managed the Ad Technologies team. She was one of the first in the industry to recognize rich media's value and became its ardent evangelist, rolling out Yahoo! Network's first deployment of the technology in 2000. In 2001, she introduced the Network's first floating ad. She was instrumental in developing early rich media metrics, and she experimented with technologies such as pre-roll as early as 2000. Throughout her career, she has remained at the forefront of emerging rich media ad technology.
Thompson will work out of PointRoll's San Francisco office. She holds bachelor's degrees in business management and psychology from California State University, Chico.
