Google Introduces New Search Engine

Posted on: Tuesday, 24 October 2006, 12:00 CDT

Google Inc., based in California, has launched a tool so Web sites and blogs can give visitors a customized search engine that produces more relevant results.

Known as Google Custom Search Engine, the free tool allows Web site owners and bloggers to choose which pages they want to include in their index and rank the pages as they like, the New York Times said Tuesday.

Google's CSE is designed to compete with Yahoo's Search Builder.

Revenue from the text advertisements that Google puts on the search results is shared with Web site publishers, although non-profits, government agencies and educational institutions are not required to include ads.
