IRVINE, Calif., July 8 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc., Digital Solutions Division (TAIS DSD) today announced the launch of its new Strata CTX28 digital business telephone system, an all-in-one, turnkey solution aimed at small companies. Delivering up to six CO lines with built-in Caller ID interface, the Strata CTX28 supports up to 16 digital telephones; two analog ports; optional integrated, plug-and-play four-port voice mail capabilities; and ability to upgrade to a larger system size.

"The Strata CTX28 is one of the most powerful, cost-effective, and reliable small business telephone systems available," said Michael E. Durance, vice president and general manager of TAIS DSD. "Unlike competitive offerings for small companies, the Strata CTX28 delivers a turnkey business communication solution with features that rival those of big-company telecom systems, at an affordable price, plus the ability to upgrade to a larger Toshiba system as the company grows."

Big-Company Voice Mail Features

Toshiba's optional integrated, plug-and-play voice processing system gives users a complete solution that delivers a wide array of voice mail features, including:

* Auto Attendant lets small company users set up an automated attendant

to manage and route incoming calls, just like a big company.

* Voice Mail Call Record allows users to simply press a button to record

their live calls for playback later.

* Voice Mail Call Monitor allows users to listen to a voice message as

it is being recorded and provides the ability to pick-up the call

while the message is being recorded.

* Caller ID allows users to see who is calling, allowing them to

effectively manage their incoming calls and pay special attention to

important callers.

* Telephone LCD Voice Mail Softkeys provide visual indication of number

of voice messages and other frequently used features, such as Voice

Mail Call Record or Call Monitor.

This fully featured voice mail system comes plug-and-play and is pre-programmed to match the related parameters of the Strata CTX28, including station numbers, voice mail boxes, voice mail hunt groups, voice mail station ID numbers, and much more. The system supports four ports of voice mail, 20 hours of storage, and up to 1,024 saved messages.

Low-Cost, High-Quality Toshiba Telephones

Available exclusively with the Strata CTX28 is the Toshiba DKT3007-SD seven-button LCD digital speakerphone. Designed especially for the Strata CTX28, this new low-cost telephone provides all the same features as Toshiba's other 3000-series digital business telephones but at a lower cost. Also compatible with the Strata CTX are Toshiba's full line of digital 3000-series telephones and the Strata CTX Attendant Console PC-based answering station. Two standard telephone interfaces that can be used for fax or modem are also provided.

Easy to Install and Begin Using

The Strata CTX28 is one of the easiest small business telephone systems to install and begin using, right out of the box. Default programming fully integrates the telephone and voice mail systems, so installation is minimal, allowing the system to be up and running very quickly. Its compact, single-cabinet system is designed for wall mounting and uses very little space. All standard and optional components, including the voice mail system, fit inside the Strata CTX28 cabinet.

Simple, Cost-Effective Upgrade Path

Although the Strata CTX28 is designed specifically for small companies with a need for up to six CO lines and 16 telephones, the customer can easily upgrade to larger Strata CTX systems, such as the Strata CTX100, which supports up to 112 ports, or the Strata CTX670, which supports up to 672 ports. Users can add networking and IP capabilities when they upgrade to either the Strata CTX100 or Strata CTX670.

Durance said, "Because Toshiba telephones can be kept and used in upgrades to Strata CTX100 or CTX670, Strata CTX28 users keep much of the value of the investment they've made in their telephone systems."

Toshiba Quality and Reliability

All the hardware and software in the Strata CTX28 is manufactured by Toshiba, which is known for its high level of quality, reliability, and durability in its telephone systems.

Pricing & Availability

End-user system pricing for the Strata CTX28 ranges from $300 to $500 per station, depending upon system configuration, options, and telephone models selected.
