StubHub, Avigen and PortalPlayer Top Categories in Deloitte's Silicon Valley Technology Fast 50 Ranking of Fastest Growing Companies With Each Exceeding 11,000 Percent Revenue Growth Over Five Years
Posted on: Thursday, 26 October 2006, 00:00 CDT
StubHub tops the list of the fastest growing Internet, Media & Entertainment, and Communication companies in Silicon Valley as recognized by Deloitte & Touche USA LLP at an award event held tonight in Burlingame. The "Silicon Valley Technology Fast 50," an annual award program, ranks technology, media, telecommunications and life sciences companies located in the Silicon Valley by revenue growth over five years.
"Sustaining high revenue growth over five years is an exceptional accomplishment. We commend all of the companies ranked on the Silicon Valley Technology Fast 50 list for making the commitment to technology and delivering on the promise of market longevity," said Mark Jensen, a partner and national director of the Venture Capital Services Group for Deloitte & Touche LLP in San Jose.
Winners are selected based on percentage revenue growth over five years from 2001 to 2005. StubHub led all Silicon Valley companies with a 13,251 percent revenue growth. The other leaders are Avigen, Inc. with 12,694 percent revenue growth in the Scientific & Medical Equipment and Bio-Technology category and PortalPlayer, Inc. with 11,897 percent revenue growth in the Software and Information Technology category.
To be considered, Technology Fast 50 entrants must: have operating revenues of at least $50,000 in 2001 and at least $5,000,000 in 2005; be headquartered in Silicon Valley; own proprietary technology or proprietary intellectual property that contributes to a significant portion of its operating revenues, or devote a significant proportion of revenues to the research and development of technology. Using other companies' technology or intellectual property in a unique way does not qualify. Subsidiaries and divisions are not eligible, unless they have some public ownership and are separately traded.

About Deloitte
Deloitte refers to one or more of Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu, a Swiss Verein, its member firms, and their respective subsidiaries and affiliates. Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu is an organization of member firms around the world devoted to excellence in providing professional services and advice, focused on client service through a global strategy executed locally in nearly 140 countries. With access to the deep intellectual capital of approximately 135,000 people worldwide, Deloitte delivers services in four professional areas -- audit, tax, consulting and financial advisory services -- and serves more than 80 percent of the world's largest companies, as well as large national enterprises, public institutions, locally important clients, and successful, fast-growing global growth companies. Services are not provided by the Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Verein, and, for regulatory and other reasons, certain member firms do not provide services in all four professional areas.
As a Swiss Verein (association), neither Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu nor any of its member firms has any liability for each other's acts or omissions. Each of the member firms is a separate and independent legal entity operating under the names "Deloitte,""Deloitte & Touche,""Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu," or other related names.
