Advanced Technology Systems, Inc., a leading information technology company that delivers innovative technology solutions to federal, state, and local government organizations, today announced that it has been awarded a $600K contract from the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) to design and build a Learning Management System (LMS) for the administration's Employee Education System (EES).
Advanced Technology Systems will serve as the lead integrator for the effort and will leverage key technologies from subcontractors Cardiff and Rustici Software. When completed, the LMS will serve as an automated survey, evaluation, and exam processing system, replacing several existing systems. LMS will assist VHA's EES in achieving its mission to continuously improve the quality of offered classes and will feature predictive analytics and on-line analytical processing to allow for efficient analysis, interpretation, and presentation of processed data.
"At Advanced Technology Systems, we specialize in helping our government customers maximize their investments in technology and improve service to their customers. Thus, we are fully committed to helping VHA streamline its learning management systems and improve delivery of training and learning materials to doctors, health care providers, researchers, and other employees throughout the VHA system," said Joe Mignogna, Vice President of Operations. "As the lead integrator on this important project, we will continue to provide our high level of technical service as we assist VHA in its mission to deliver high quality, affordable health care to our Nation's veterans and their families."
VHA is a branch of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs that administers and operates a medical care system for veterans and eligible beneficiaries. VHA operates the nation's largest integrated health care system providing care to nearly 5 million unique patients and 54 million outpatient visits in 2005. To carry out its mission to provide medical care, VHA operates (as of December 31, 2005) 156 hospitals, 877 outpatient clinics, 136 nursing homes, 43 residential rehabilitation treatment programs, and 207 readjustment counseling centers including facilities in every state, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, the American Virgin Islands, Washington, DC, and Guam. VHA also finances health care for some veterans in other government or private facilities and, under limited circumstances, finances care for dependents and survivors of veterans as well. In addition to providing health care, VHA also has missions to provide training for health care professionals; to conduct medical research; to serve as a contingency backup to DoD medical services; and, during national emergencies, to support the National Disaster Medical System.
