Posted on: Monday, 30 October 2006, 09:00 CST

RESTON, Va., Oct. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- TerreStar Networks Inc., an emerging provider of one of America's first 4G mobile communications networks, today announced a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) (No. DISA- 07-001) with the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) of the U.S. Department of Defense concerning TerreStar's developing North American Emergency Response Communications Network.

TerreStar and DISA have entered into a CRADA to perform research and development on the following communications technology development topics including Network, Operations, Applications, Facilities and Sustainment. TerreStar is providing information and manpower to the joint research project, matching its efforts with those of the DISA to meet the CRADA's objectives. Both collaborators expect this CRADA will yield substantial progress, via information exchanges between DISA and TerreStar, to eventually develop products that will mutually benefit the Government and TerreStar.

"We are pleased to be a collaborator with DISA in this important effort," said Robert H. Brumley, President and CEO of TerreStar.

The Defense Information Systems Agency is a combat support agency responsible for planning, engineering, acquiring, fielding, and supporting global net-centric solutions to serve the needs of the President, Vice President, the Secretary of Defense, and other DoD Components, under all conditions of peace and war. DISA is also responsible for providing, maintaining, and establishing the technical standards for a world-wide telecommunications/data communications network and network links for the Department of Defense (DoD), components and agencies of the DoD, and other Federal/State agencies and for ensuring communications interoperability with other nations. DISA provides guidance and support on technical and operational C3 and information systems issues affecting the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD), the Military Departments, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the Joint Staff, the Unified and Specified Commands, and the Defense Agencies.

About TerreStar

TerreStar's first satellite is currently being developed and built by Loral with a scheduled launch date of November 2007.
