New California Broadband Policy Will Bring More Technology to More People

Posted on: Monday, 30 October 2006, 12:00 CST

SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 30 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- This past Friday, California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger issued an Executive Order designed to promote access to, the adoption of and new applications for broadband networks and advanced communications.

The following may be attributed to Ken McNeely, President, AT&T California:

"Governor Schwarzenegger and his administration are clearly looking ahead to tomorrow by encouraging private broadband investment in California, today. And at AT&T, we're doing exactly that. Right now we're hard at work rolling out more fiber optic lines in California than ever before, taking our advanced IP-based broadband network to the next level. Our $1-billion broadband upgrade in the state will enable us to deliver Californians something they've never had: a real choice to cable TV for home entertainment services. This executive order highlights that California is once again asserting its leadership in high tech."
