Inlet Technologies Brings New Media Delivery Solutions to Streaming Media West

Posted on: Tuesday, 31 October 2006, 12:00 CST

Inlet Technologies, a leading provider of advanced encoding solutions for digital media delivery, announced today that they will demonstrate new technology for IP video distribution at the Streaming Media West show in San Jose, October 31 to November 2. Inlet will join Microsoft as a partner in booth 507, to demonstrate the future direction of new media.

Inlet's new solution enables content providers to leverage IP as a viable broadcast network, and thus generate incremental revenue opportunities. Built upon the Inlet advanced encoding platform, this timely solution delivers an optimized, professional video experience to the maturing streaming marketplace.

"IP is ubiquitous and multi-faceted, and, along with the digital home, is rapidly changing the landscape of media and entertainment," said Page. "Today consumers want their news, movies, sports and music videos on a wide range of viewing devices. In order for providers to broaden their reach to new subscribers, they must have a viable solution for seamlessly delivering high quality video to both the desktop and the television. Until now, content providers had to utilize independent systems to reach those different screens. Inlet solutions leverage the common denominators of IP and advanced encoding solutions to provide a multi-screen offering that takes streaming to the next level."

In the past three years, Inlet has established itself as a leader in the professional video sector, with products ideally suited for media professionals in post production, video on demand, and video distribution. Prior to founding Inlet, CEO Neal Page and CTO Scott Labrozzi founded Osprey Technologies and invented the Osprey product line, which quickly became the de facto standard for video capture in the early days of streaming media. Today these streaming pioneers use new advanced encoding technology to bring Hollywood-quality media to the streaming market.

At the Streaming Media show, Inlet will provide a "sneak peek" at their new solution for live advanced encoding, which will elevate streaming to the experience of broadcast TV. This new offering will be officially announced to the public at the upcoming Telco TV Expo in Dallas. The product is a professional-grade solution, delivering best-in-class quality, for applications such as web streaming, IPTV, broadband TV, government, enterprise and educational video. It leverages encoding enhancements and an advanced toolset to deliver the bandwidth performance and unique features necessary to provide a true broadcast experience over traditional streaming and new telco IP networks.

"Today, IP technology is used in more ways than ever before," said Labrozzi. "Our new product delivers real-time encoded output in the SMPTE VC-1 and Windows Media formats, which are ideal for network media, due to their acceptance in the Web world, the maturity of their toolsets, and the ubiquity of the required infrastructure -- from servers, to DRM, to hardware and software."
